Welcome to the CTC West

On joining CTC, one automatically becomes a member of it’s local Group: an association of members who have come together to encourage cycling in all its aspects and to foster social spirit amongst its members. CTC West (formally Bristol District Association) currently has around 3900 CTC members living within its boundary.

Geographically, CTC West includes Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire and most of Somerset and Wiltshire. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty which includes the Cotswold, Mendip and Quantock Hills, part of Exmoor, the Severn Vale, the Forest of Dean and the Wiltshire Downs, all of which are ideal for cycling.

At various locations throughout the CTC West area, members have come together to form Sub-Groups. These smaller units enable members to enjoy regular club riding which, together with the CTC West and CTC national programme provide a comprehensive series of events throughout the year catering for the interest and abilities of most cyclists. Inter-Sub-Group activities are also encouraged. Details of the Sub-Groups are given on the last page of this leaflet.

In addition to cycling events, CTC West holds a Lunch at Luckington at which the annual awards are presented, and an Inter-Sub-Group Meet at Grittleton. CTC West members participate in CTC National events, including the York Cycle Show, and the CTC Birthday Rides. CTC West holds events that qualify in the CTC Tourist Competition.

CTC West publishes its own magazine “The Tourist”. This contains news and reports of current events, together with contributions from club members. CTC West also publishes a comprehensive website: www.ctcwest.org.uk, which holds a weath of information, deatils of Sub-Groups, useful contacts, rides lists etc. CTC West Events Competitions
